Raspberry pi - Pulse edge triggered by STM32 board

I will show you in 4 simple steps.

Step1 - setup of 2 second pulse:
Please refer to my previous video for setup of 2 second period pulse using stm32F407G.

https://youtu.be/DJSr8ssFJLQ

Pulse generated:

Step2 - Prepare of python code for raspberry pi:

Type the code at python IDE raspberry pi. I am using edge triggered method and detect the rising edge of signal sent by STM32. I am assign  the detection to pin 40 of raspberry pi.

Python Code:

import RPi.GPIO as GPIO

GPIO.setmode(GPIO.BOARD)
GPIO.setwarnings(False)
GPIO.setup(40,GPIO.IN)
num=0

while(1):

    GPIO.wait_for_edge(40,GPIO.RISING)
    print(str(num))
    num=num+1

Step3 - Board connection STM32 and raspberry pi:

Common ground is needed to synchronize the signal between STM32 & raspberry pi.

STM32      raspberry pi
PE9 -->       pin40
GND-->      GND

Step4 - Done:

Each triggered python program increased by 1. e.g. 1,2.3.......

Setup of raspberry pi 4 board

Download of raspbian and download image file to sd card until enter window.

Part1:
Insert microsd card to sd card.

Part2:
Download raspbian operating system and etcher to flash image file.

Part3:
flash the image file using etcher  into the sd card.

Part4:
Insert sd card to the raspberry pi4 and on the supply. We need to connect htmi cable to monitor.
We can also connect keyboard and mouse.

Button control for gpio raspberry pi using python

Python code:

from gpiozero import Button
#you need to have this module installed
from time import sleep
from tkinter.messagebox import *

button = Button(4)
#button 4 mean pin7
while True:
    if button.is_pressed:
        print("Pressed")
        #so if grounded, mean press
    else:
        print("Released")
        #so if connect to 3.3V mean release
    sleep(1)

    showinfo(title="Greetings", message="Pressed")

Board connection for "OFF":

PIN7 connected to PIN1(3.3V)

Board connection for "ON":

PIN7 connected to PIN9(GND)

UART communication between stm32 nucleo F446RE and Raspberry Pi 4 Model B

1. UART raspi and stm32 - Setup of board connection:

Before start to program, we need to do the board to board connection from stm32 nucleo F446RE to Raspberry Pi 4 Model B. (Tx pin stm32 to Rx pin raspberry pi and vice versa. Beside that we need to connect both boards ground together)

2. UART raspi and stm32 - Setup of raspi board programming:

Basically I am using python code to write the command from raspberry pi transmit it to stm32.

Code:

#!/usr/bin/env python
import time
import serial

ser = serial.Serial(
        port='/dev/ttyS0',
        baudrate = 9600,
        parity=serial.PARITY_NONE,
        stopbits=serial.STOPBITS_ONE,
        bytesize=serial.EIGHTBITS,
        timeout=1000
)

data='00001111'

while 1:

        ser.write(str(data).encode())
        time.sleep(1)

3. UART raspi and stm32 - Setup of stm32 programming:

We need to configure the firmware for stm32 using c programming. I am using cubemx for easier of programming as most of the setting of uart is there. (Please note that i am using 2 uarts-  uart2 for transmit to pc as stlink virtual com port connected to uart2 and can be directly communicate to pc and uart1 for receive from stm32 and saved in memory)
